Licensing Your Eclectus
Eclectus Parrots require a licence in Western Australia. There are some who confused because the application is not specific in the which sub species requires licensing or the paper does not contain their binominal or scientific name so you may only need a licence for the Australian Eclectus (macgillivrayi). The Advance Aviculture licence in Western Australia if for ALL sub species of Eclectus Parrots. The licence only costs $20 per year.
There is also some confusion as to why binominal or scientific names are not used on the application as they are on applications in other states. The application is most likely catering for the humble everyday human being that is more familiar with a bird species ‘common’ names than their scientific names. No matter what sub species you have, you need to licence the bird in Western Australia.
You may also have other parrot species that need to be declared and/or licensed. Certain species of parrots require declaring but may not need a licence. You can check on these forms.
You can download and print these licences and declarations from here.
